Cashmere is one of the most beautiful and enduring fibres in the world. With the right care, a well-made cashmere piece will not only last for years — it will soften and improve with age.

Washing Your Cashmere

Always hand wash cashmere in cool water with a gentle detergent or specialist cashmere wash. Avoid hot water, which causes shrinkage, and never wring or twist the fabric. Gently press the water out and lay flat to dry away from direct heat or sunlight.

If machine washing, use a delicate cycle at 30°C or below in a mesh laundry bag.

Storing Your Cashmere

Fold, never hang. Hanging cashmere on a hanger will cause it to stretch and lose its shape over time. Store folded in a drawer or on a shelf, ideally wrapped in tissue paper or a breathable cotton bag.

To protect against moths, add cedar balls or lavender sachets to your storage — avoid direct contact with the cashmere itself.

Pilling

Pilling is natural and not a sign of poor quality — it simply means the fibres are settling. Use a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to gently remove any pills. With regular attention your piece will look as beautiful as the day you bought it.

Wear It Often

The best thing you can do for cashmere is wear it. Cashmere that is worn and cared for regularly will outlast pieces kept in a drawer. It is a fabric made for living in.
